Custom Toplines – FAQ
Do I own the vocals I purchase?
Yes. Once payment is complete, you receive the agreed usage rights as outlined in the licence provided with your project. Full details are supplied before delivery.
Who owns the master recording?
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, you own 100% of the master rights to the final vocal recording supplied for your track.
Will this topline be sold to anyone else?
No. Custom toplines are written specifically for your track and will not be resold or reused.
Can I release the song commercially?
Yes. Custom toplines are created for commercial release, provided you follow the licensing terms supplied with your project.
Do I need to credit Paul Hawksworth as an artist or featured artist?
No. Custom toplines are supplied for use without artist or featured artist credit by default.
Any use of my name as a credited artist or featured artist must be agreed in advance and confirmed in writing.
Do you retain songwriting or publishing rights?
I retain 50% of the publishing on all custom toplines I write.
How many revisions are included?
1 free revision round is included. Revisions are a handful of small changes, not a rerecording or rewrite.
How many custom projects do you take on each month?
Custom work is strictly limited. I only accept a small number of custom topline projects per month to maintain quality and turnaround time.
How long does delivery take?
Turnaround time depends on current availability (typically 10-14 days). Message me today to discuss your project!
What files will I receive?
You will receive:
• Lead vocal
• Harmonies, doubles, BGVS & ad-libs
• Wet & dry WAV stems
• Reference vocal mix (mp3)
• Lyric sheet (PDF)
I will send all stems as 24bit 44k wav files. Completely tuned and edited (unless otherwise requested).
Can I resell or redistribute the vocals on their own?
No. The vocals may only be used as part of a finished musical composition and may not be resold, shared, or redistributed as standalone files.
What happens if I don’t use the topline?
Once delivered, custom work is non-refundable due to the time and creative work involved.
