Live from the Living Room EP47: A heartfelt message...and an Easter bonnet
I received an email recently and was reminded about the importance of good habits and consistent work towards a goal. Although these rituals rarely yield instant rewards they can be of great benefit in the long run.
In 2019 my ‘goal’ in music was to build relationships with promoters out of my city of Sheffield in order to play shows outside my local area. I diligently researched suitable venues / promoters, added them to a spreadsheet and wrote emails to each of them individually. This was something I did daily for a long period of time only for COVID to happen in 2020 and ruin all my plans! Or so I thought…
The fact that I re-focused my energy in 2020 on my Facebook livestreams opened a whole new world to me and I’m so thankful I took the leap to do that. I started applying my ‘diligence’ and ‘routine’ to making that part of my music as good as it could possibly be. Lo and behold, I recently received a gig offer from one of the out-of-town promoters I initially reached out to.
The reason I’m telling you this is not to gloat, but because I’ve seen many people of late seem down, depressed, and low (and for good reason, COVID has shat on us all!). I just feel that it’s important we all have faith in ourselves, our dreams and our goals. Be it big things or little things, the good you do every day in your life will pay off, even if you’re not seeing those rewards right now.
Hear me talk about this AND demonstrate a fine Easter bonnet in THIS edition of Live from the Living Room!
